Every book we publish is governed by five principles.
- Evidence before speculation.
- Ancient sources cited whenever possible.
- Modern scholarship carefully considered.
- Disputed questions presented fairly.
- Clear writing for both scholars and general readers.
Where the evidence runs out, our books say so. Where the text of a document must be restored rather than attested, the restoration is marked as such. The reader is always told which is which.
