Marco Valenti writes narrative history of the Roman Republic, with a particular interest in the fourth and third centuries BC — the age in which Rome mastered Italy and first fought Carthage. He is the author of the Forgotten Men of the Roman Republic series and of The Treaty of Lutatius, the first volume in the Forgotten Documents of the Roman Republic series.

His work begins from the ancient sources — Livy, Polybius, Plutarch, the fragments and inscriptions — and is written for readers who want serious history without an academic apparatus standing between them and the story.
